Our clients describe our approach as “decisive, informed and fresh”

SKAI was formed by four women directors in 1999, two of whom remain in active roles with the company today. Our company name is not actually a word, but simply the first initials of our founding directors. We have a lot of fun every time someone joins us making up new anagrams that the company might call itself! This whilst amusing is an important point - SKAI is about the people within it and around it, not simply those that started it. These people are our employees and sub-contractors, all of whom are selected with the utmost diligence, and on a continuous basis. Our accredited community is currently 30 people, and continues to grow.

People are always interested in how the company started. The founders actually have a shared history going back much further than 1999, in fact as far back as 1994, when they formed a change practice for an international IT provider. They realised that focusing on people was one of the most powerful business performance levers there was – and so started SKAI to focus on just that. SKAI works with leaders specifically because they wield the biggest performance bat in organisations today.

Progress was rapid, the company grew from zero to 30 clients in just 4 years, and currently has a portfolio of in excess of 50 blue-chip clients, including a significant number in the public sector, where the leadership challenges are particularly exciting. Over the years, the things we have found the most useful for helping our clients have become more and more consistent. We are constantly distilling the essence of what we do, to make it simpler, more predictable, more easily measured, and dare we say it, more fun to do. This has meant we now have a product portfolio for individuals, groups or organisations that is gold standard, easily scaleable, and easily modified to address any business situation. All our clients have seen measurable and sustained improvement in the day-to-day performance of their leaders and managers.
