RETAIL WEEK - Salary survey: wheel of fortune or road to nowhere by Samantha Lyster

This article disusses that recent results of a salary survey and asks if long hours, high pressure and inadequate infrastructure are clipping the wings of today's retail directors. Alison Brooks, one of SKAI's founding directors is quoted as saying "that establishing exactly what a director' s role entails makes it easier to say no. Directors need to get a grip on what they are there for , and to communicate that to the rest of the team Then they need to monitor the work they are carrying out and , if they find they are straying from their remit , put in place tactics that will help them. Directors can fall into the trap of saying yes to all requests, because not only are they unsure of their remit, but they also genuinely want to help."
