| Kate Lidbetter, SKAI's Head of Coaching was a session leader at the UBS annual conference for 250 women leaders. Keynote speakers included Sir Patrick Cordingly, Dame Betty Boothroyd and Elizabeth Filkin. Kate ran two 1 hour sessions for 100 participants at a time. The workshops comprised a series of simple exercises to demonstrate what it feels like to deliberately coach, as opposed to automatically try to help by problem solving. The workshop also revealed some simple techniques to assure success every time. There was opportunity to debrief and learn together about what it's like to be coached, and what it's like to coach, in order that everyone felt fully equipped and confident to try what had been learned immediately back at the workplace without any nasty surprises! Finally – there's nothing wrong with problem solving – the workshop also identified where coaching is worth a go, or conversely where problem solving would work just fine.
