We though you might be interested to know that Kate Lidbetter, one of the founding directors of SKAI Associates, was invited to speak at a recent lunch for 100 HR directors and professionals working in the television and media industry. The lunch is a regular quarterly event that has been running for 6 years. Cherie Blair has been one of the previous speakers so SKAI had to make sure our topic was interesting and useful! Most of the audience had been through the recent pain of downsizing and redundancies, and were often personally faced with ever increasing workloads. "How to get a quart out of a pint pot" was how many had described their situation.
SKAI chose to focus at the personal level. The hour-long talk looked at the world of work and its challenges, and the impact it was having on individual leaders. We talked to the clear need for simple tools that refocused, re-energised, and inspired people to do their best and be happy to be doing it. Kate described one such SKAI tool, called "Tablets of Stone", that we use for ourselves and with many of the people we coach.
"Tablets of Stone" provides support for strong performance in any given situation or across a specified time frame. It is an easily learnt, immediately applicable for everyone, simple, 3 step process that enables individuals to generate the authentic and inspirational personal motivation it takes to address business challenges. During the talk the audience heard about Kate's own experiences in using the process, went through some examples, heard some war stories and then had a go themselves. Judging by the noise levels in the room after the practice people found it useful and fun! The sponsor for the event told us afterwards that there had been record attendance levels, and that she had spoken to many attendees who were busily applying the process back at their workplace.
